Endgames In conjunction with the Free Bowl Calgary Invitational tournament programmed by Artcity, a set of photographic documentation was displayed at Truck Gallery, as part of a group show titled Endgames. The photographs presented in this show document a range of publicly accessible sites used to conduct Free Bowl games. The balls depicted are of an all-terrain sort and may be used on a variety of playing surfaces. The balls have a soft bounce, and will float in the case of water hazards. In early Free Bowl play, it became apparent that balls were useful in surveying a variety of urban terrain. Observing the path and resting points of a given bowl, one could determine the true grade of a manufactured landscape or architectural structure. These photographs then, present constellations of a sort, which map surface details that may otherwise be invisible to the eye. Additionally, the photographs are intended to offer Free Bowl players an idea of potential sites for game play.
